[Remote] Data Protection Engineer

Tiger Advisory is seeking an experienced Cohesity Backup Engineer to design, implement, administer, and support enterprise backup and recovery solutions using the Cohesity platform. This role is responsible for maintaining the health and performance of backup infrastructures, ensuring data protection compliance, supporting ransomware recovery initiatives, and collaborating with various teams to deliver highly resilient backup and recovery services.ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain enterprise Cohesity DataProtect environmentPerform daily monitoring of backup jobs, replication activities, and storage utilizationConfigure and manage: Protection Policies, Protection Groups, Storage Domains, Replication and Archival Policies, Cloud Tiering and Long-Term RetentionManage backup and recovery operations for: VMware and Hyper-V environments, Physical Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Databases, NAS workloads, Cloud workloads (AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud)Execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery testing proceduresPerform file-level, VM-level, database-level, and mass recovery operationsDevelop and maintain recovery runbooks and documentationEnsure recovery objectives (RPO/RTO) are consistently metDesign and implement: Cohesity replication policies, Cross-cluster replication, Cloud archive solutions, Immutable backup strategiesSupport cyber recovery and ransomware resilience initiativesParticipate in business continuity and disaster recovery exercisesInstall, configure, upgrade, and patch Cohesity clusters and software componentsConfigure integration with: Active Directory, LDAP, SNMP, Monitoring toolsImplement role-based access controls and security best practicesTroubleshoot: Failed backup jobs, Replication issues, Performance bottlenecks, Capacity challenges, Recovery failuresPerform root cause analysis and provide remediation recommendationsManage incident resolution and escalation with vendor support when necessaryImplement data protection standards and governance requirementsSupport: Immutable snapshots, Threat detection, Backup security hardening, Compliance reportingParticipate in vulnerability remediation and backup security assessmentsCreate and maintain: Architecture diagrams, Standard operating procedures, Backup policies, Disaster recovery documentation, Knowledge base articlesCollaborate with infrastructure, cloud, networking, storage, and security teamsProvide technical guidance and mentoring to junior administratorsSkillsBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience7+ years of enterprise backup and recovery administration experience5+ years of hands-on experience with Cohesity DataProtect environmentsStrong experience with: VMware vSphere, Windows Server, Linux administration, Microsoft SQL Server backups, Active Directory integration, Disaster Recovery planning, Backup architecture designExperience supporting hybrid cloud environmentsStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to participate in an on-call rotationExperience with: Cohesity FortKnox, Cohesity Cloud Archive, Cohesity Site Continuity, Cohesity Threat Defense, Storage platforms and SAN technologiesAutomation using PowerShell, Python, or REST APIsITIL processes and ServiceNow integrationsCompany OverviewWe Are Tiger Advisory.
