The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain data infrastructure and ingestion frameworks, collaborating with various teams to implement scalable data solutions on AWS that support data-driven reporting.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable data and file ingestion frameworksCollaborate with cross-functional value stream teams, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand and refine data requirements and translate them into technical solutionsOptimize data ingestion frameworks for performance and reliabilityFollow data governance and security best practicesTroubleshoot data integrity and performance issuesParticipate in code reviews and enforce coding standardsParticipate in architectural decisions and design discussionsWork on initiatives to mitigate and alleviate core data application issues, including opportunities for process automationStay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and apply them to improve the data frameworkCollaborate with colleagues on development best practices and data application issuesOperate independently with some latitude for unreviewed actions or decisionsComplete other duties as assignedSkillsBachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, such as Information Systems, Mathematics, or Software Engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience2 to 4 years of software development experience, preferably in a data-related fieldExperience with ETL development and design using Python and Big Data technologies, including Hadoop and SparkSQL knowledge and RDBMS experience with a recognized database, such as Aurora, MySQL, Postgres, or RedshiftExperience with the AWS platformUnderstanding of dimensional models and ER designsStrong written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologyExposure to data warehouse principlesAbility to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and colleagues, remain calm in stressful situations, independently troubleshoot program errors regardless of technology, and write user-friendly explanations of highly technical functionality2 years of IT experience in financial services or another highly regulated industryUse of JIRA in Agile developmentKnowledge of DevOps and CI/CD best practicesExperience with new technologies such as QuickSight and Co-PilotCustomer focus, including delivering internal and external customer service excellence, listening skills, patience, empathy, authenticity, proactivity, and perseveranceAbility to build partnerships through collaborative relationships, effective conflict management, trust-building, integrity, respectful communication, and support for the success of othersBenefitsMedical, dental, vision and life insuranceRetirement savings – 401(k) plan with generous company matching contributions (up to 6%), financial advisory services, potential company discretionary contribution, and a broad investment lineupTuition reimbursement up to $5,250/yearBusiness-casual environment that includes the option to wear jeansGenerous paid time off upon hire – including a paid time off program plus ten paid company holidays and three floating holidays each calendar yearPaid volunteer time — 16 hours per calendar yearLeave of absence programs – including paid parental leave, paid short- and long-term disability, and Family and Medical Leave (FMLA)Business Resource Groups (BRGs) – BRGs facilitate inclusion and collaboration across our business internally and throughout the communities where we live, work and play.
