[Remote] Data Center Administrator
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. athenahealth is seeking a Data Center Engineering team member to support the full lifecycle of physical infrastructure across their data center environment. This role is responsible for maintaining servers, storage, networking equipment, and facility conditions that support athenahealth’s large and evolving EHR and practice management ecosystem.ResponsibilitiesShare responsibility for supporting data center-specific issues with local team membersServe as the first responder for technical and facility-related issues within the data centerManage the full lifecycle of servers, storage, and network equipment, including receiving, racking, maintenance, and recyclingCoordinate replacement of failed components and support hardware repair activitiesProvide remote hands support for physical server, network, and telecommunications equipmentWork with operations teams and vendors to ensure equipment is operating optimallyCoordinate and supervise facility maintenancePerform daily walkthroughs to check for error lights, inventory discrepancies, and facility issuesMaintain cleanliness of the data center, office, and storage areasEnsure cable management and environment policies meet department standardsDiagnose and resolve hardware, network, and physical connectivity issuesParticipate in problem-solving and process improvement efforts related to data center operationsContribute to planning, design, and documentation related to power, cooling, layer 1 networking, and policiesBuild strong relationships with the data center facility manager and teamContribute to the DCEng knowledge base, documentation, and team cultureSkillsAbility to lift equipment up to 50 lbsExperience in a production data center environment, highly preferredUnderstanding of data center power and cooling infrastructure, preferredStrong understanding of server components and repair, preferredAbility to troubleshoot Dell and HP server hardware and open vendor support cases, preferredBasic understanding of power and cooling systems in data environments, preferredBasic understanding of the Linux command line interface, preferredBenefitsAlong with health and financial benefits, athenistas enjoy perks specific to each location, including commuter support, employee assistance programs, tuition assistance, employee resource groups, and collaborative workspaces — some offices even welcome dogs.We also encourage a better work-life balance for athenistas with our flexibility.
