[Remote] Data Annotation Specialist (English and French)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Innodata Inc. is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Data Annotation Specialist to support the evaluation and labeling of images, search queries, and other forms of data for a large enterprise client. The role requires strong critical thinking and written skills to understand guidelines and articulate understanding, with past data annotation experience preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
⢠Support the evaluation and labeling of images, search queries and other forms of data for a large enterprise client
⢠Identify and label subtle patterns or elements consistently
⢠Use annotation tools and understand data formats (e.g., text, image, audio)
⢠Apply guidelines uniformly across large datasets
⢠Resolve ambiguous cases based on annotation rules
⢠Report edge cases or unclear instructions to team leads or developers
⢠Meet productivity targets without sacrificing quality
Skills
⢠Attention to Detail ā Ability to consistently identify and label subtle patterns or elements
⢠Basic Technical Literacy ā Comfortable using annotation tools and understanding data formats (e.g., text, image, audio)
⢠Consistency and Accuracy ā Ability to apply guidelines uniformly across large datasets
⢠Critical Thinking ā Capable of resolving ambiguous cases based on annotation rules
⢠Communication Skills ā Can report edge cases or unclear instructions to team leads or developers
⢠Time Management ā Able to meet productivity targets without sacrificing quality
⢠A Bachelor's degree or higher in a humanities specialization is required
⢠Advanced degrees are strongly preferred (Master's or PhD)
⢠Experience with Annotation Tools ā Familiarity with platforms like Labelbox, CVAT, Prodigy, or Amazon SageMaker Ground Truth
⢠Understanding of Machine Learning Concepts ā Basic knowledge of how annotations impact model training and evaluation
⢠Quality Assurance (QA) Experience ā Skill in reviewing or validating annotations done by others
⢠Adaptability to Evolving Guidelines ā Comfort with changing instructions and updating work practices accordingly
⢠Team Collaboration Tools Proficiency ā Familiarity with tools like Jira, Slack, or Trello for task tracking and communication
⢠Problem-Solving Mindset ā Proactive in identifying annotation issues or proposing improvements to workflows
