The role focuses on delivering high-performance data storage capabilities that meet customer needs while supporting the company's long-term platform vision.ResponsibilitiesOwn the product vision, roadmap, and lifecycle for core storage capabilities and APIs, aligning business objectives with customer needs and long‑term platform strategyDefine product requirements and success metrics for data path, management plane, and control plane capabilities, translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable requirementsPartner closely with engineering, product marketing, and sales teams to prioritize features, make tradeoffs, and deliver high‑quality releases on timeLead requirements and prioritization for storage services such as data protection, replication, deduplication, compression, tiering, and availability, ensuring they deliver measurable customer valueAct as the voice of the customer, incorporating feedback from customers, field teams, support, and partners into the product backlog and roadmapDrive API product strategy, ensuring APIs are consistent, well‑documented, easy to consume, and aligned with ecosystem and partner integration needsCollaborate with performance and architecture teams to set and validate product‑level performance goals, such as latency, throughput, and scalability targetsEvaluate market trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies in enterprise storage, cloud, and distributed systems to inform product directionSupport go‑to‑market readiness by contributing to product positioning, technical collateral, feature documentation, and internal enablementClearly communicate product plans, progress, and tradeoffs to stakeholders across engineering, sales, marketing, and leadershipSkillsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field5+ years of experience in product management or technical product ownership, preferably in storage systems, infrastructure software, or cloud platformsStrong understanding of enterprise block storage conceptsFamiliarity with storage protocols and interfaces (e.g., SCSI, NVMe, iSCSI, Fibre Channel sufficient to make informed product and prioritization decisionsExperience owning or defining APIs as a product, including requirements for RESTful APIs and/or gRPC, versioning, and lifecycle managementWorking knowledge of data protection, replication, availability, and disaster recovery conceptsAbility to engage deeply with engineering teams on architecture and tradeoffs without being responsible for implementationStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to balance customer impact, technical constraints, and business prioritiesExcellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to influence across functionsExperience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments is a plusBenefitsEmployees are eligible to participate in Hitachi Vantara’s bonus/variable/commission pay programs, where applicable, and are subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.We help take care of your today and tomorrow with industry-leading benefits, support, and services that look after your holistic health and wellbeing.We offer flexible arrangements that work for you (role and location dependent).Company OverviewHitachi Vantara drives data to meaningful outcomes.
