[Remote] Contract Software Engineer

SHR Talent is partnering with a leading healthcare organization to identify a Contract Software Engineer who will play a critical role in designing, developing, and supporting healthcare data interfaces. The role involves collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver integration solutions that ensure seamless interoperability across systems.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, test, implement, and support healthcare data interfaces and integration solutionsParticipate in project discovery sessions to gather requirements, identify risks, and uncover technical challengesDevelop project diagrams, workflows, and technical documentationPerform functional and end-to-end testing to ensure interfaces meet project requirements prior to go-liveSupport data extracts, migrations, and backload activitiesMaintain accurate and up-to-date interface documentation throughout the project lifecycleServe as the primary subject matter expert for integration projects and existing interfacesAct as the primary liaison between internal teams, oncology practices, vendors, and external partnersFacilitate communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and project successCoordinate multiple concurrent integration projects while maintaining timelines and deliverablesManage vendor relationships and serve as the central point of contact for integration-related initiativesIdentify enhancement opportunities and document requirements through JIRA ticketsCollaborate with development teams and serve as Product Owner for Azure Function development initiatives when neededProvide ongoing support and troubleshooting for existing interfaces and integration issuesMonitor and maintain Mirth Connect environments to ensure performance, stability, and currencyProactively communicate risks, concerns, or issues impacting integration environmentsSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare IT, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered3+ years of experience in healthcare integrations, interface development, or healthcare IT systemsHands-on experience with Mirth Connect or a comparable healthcare integration engineExperience designing, developing, testing, and supporting healthcare data interfacesExperience with Azure Functions or similar serverless/cloud technologiesFamiliarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools such as JIRAStrong organizational and project coordination skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesKnowledge of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 v2, FHIR, CCD, APIs, and related frameworksExperience supporting healthcare data migrations, extracts, and backloadsExperience working with oncology practices, healthcare providers, or healthcare technology organizationsUnderstanding of cloud-based integration environments and DevOps practicesBenefitsRemote flexibilityPotential for contract extension beyond 2026 based on business needs and performanceCompany OverviewSHR Talent is a recruiting company that provides staffing and recruitment services.
