[Remote] Component Design Engineer

The role involves supporting the design, analysis, and fabrication of microreactors, focusing on the mechanical integrity of structural components to meet nuclear industry standards.ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed design, analysis, and documentation for reactor structures and pressure boundary components (vessels, piping, and supports)Prepare, check, and certify Design Specifications and review Design Reports in accordance with ASME Section III requirementsPrepare and review pressure boundary evaluations, including stress and fatigue evaluationsInterface with multidisciplinary teams to define design requirements, optimize component performance, and resolve complex technical issuesCollaborate with the licensing team to support domestic and international regulatory efforts, including 10 CFR 50.55a technical programs (Inservice Inspection and Testing)Support the development of design and general arrangement drawings; provide review of fabrication drawings, weld requirements and material selectionPropose innovative design solutions for next-generation advanced reactors, utilizing independent judgment to interpret project scope and requirementsProvide technical guidance to junior engineers and support the implementation of engineering standards across the organizationSkillsBachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Civil Engineering5+ years of relevant experience in equipment design or nuclear component engineeringDeep understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III, or similar (e.g. Section VIII Division 2)Experience working under stringent quality assurance programs requirements such as ASME NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000Expertise in detail-oriented review of drawings, documents, and calculations to ensure consistency and technical rigorRegistered professional engineer, or ability to obtain active license within 6-monthsAppendix XXIII Certifying Engineer Qualification, or the ability to demonstrate and achieve this qualification within 12-monthsExceptional technical writing and oral communication skills; ability to create and interpret complex engineering reports and drawingsA high degree of integrity, a desire to foster teamwork, and a passion for solving the complex challenges of clean energyBenefitsRemote or hybrid work will be considered on a case-by-case basis.Company OverviewHadron Energy specializes in Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) development, design, and research.
