Church Mutual Insurance Company, S.I. is seeking a Commercial Lines Consultant to coordinate and execute underwriting projects that drive profitability and corporate strategy. The role involves leveraging data for research and analysis, developing underwriting directives, and collaborating across various functional areas to optimize underwriting processes.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate strategic underwriting projects to execution and drive optimization of implemented solutionsConduct thorough research and analysis, providing informed decisions to support strategic value proposition for internal and external stakeholdersUtilize data insights for effective governance of new and renewal business initiativesEffectively communicate critical project impactsEmploy strong focus toward continuous improvement and workflow efficiencies within initiativesDevelop and maintain underwriting protocols and guidelines, applying data-driven decision-making and structured communication strategyCollaborate with product, actuarial, and claim in the research, design, development, and enhancement of insurance products and protocols in proactive response to emerging issuesManage portfolio-level, multi-phase, multi-system, cross-functional projects with focus on underwriting profitability, expense management, and workflow efficiencyEnsure accountability within cross-functional project teamsCommunicate project status, including key timeliness, technical issues, dependencies, constraints, and impacts to senior leadership team, impacted units, and stakeholdersDevelop and evaluate existing underwriting applications, surveys, data sources, and implementation of new technologies to support data collection and usageAssist with the audit function and support post-audit actionSolid understanding of the policyholder lifecycle and ability to work cross-functionally to streamline processes and minimize expensesWork closely with product and compliance teams in support of underwriting resource development for adherence to regulatorily requirementsSkillsEight to ten years in the property and casualty industry, including three to five years in underwritingExperience driving execution of projects through stages including research, data-driven decision-making, resource and workflow development and successful initiative implementationDepartment-level project management experience to include the use of formal project management methodologyStrong analytical and problem-solving skills supporting capability to develop, test and implement solutions for complex problems and issuesStrong listening, written and verbal presentationComprehensive knowledge of the underwriting function and property and casualty industry, including all commercial lines productsKnowledge and experience surrounding CM Group market focusOrganized, analytical, and self-motivatedBachelor's degree is strongly preferredCPCU or evidence of continuing education in the insurance industry is preferredExperience navigating IT systems including workflow tools, policy administration and vendor solutions in support of Underwriting functions preferredPrior experience designing requirements for systems a significant plusWorking knowledge of external compliance requirements, insurance department complaints and market conduct examinations is desirableCompany OverviewOur purpose has remained clear — support our customers, keep them safe and help them continue to serve others.
