Remote Commercial Insurance Underwriter

Overview Underwrites, prices and services large, loss sensitive accounts (premium > $350k) with supervision on varying complexity. Supports daily service demands of agents to achieve team goals, with understanding of coverage, underwriting system transactions, and State-specific LOB filings. All duties are performed in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Underwrite and process large account renewal policies with supervision and within a letter of authority. Gather, analyze, and evaluate risk exposure through appropriate risk documentation. Apply knowledge of coverage forms, rating plans, and guidelines to select and price risks. Respond to agents’ inquiries on coverage and adjust policy information within prescribed authority. Quote, accept, decline, modify, and renew risks within account assignment according to underwriting guidelines. Partner with Large Account Specialists, Agents, team members, and other departments to grow and maintain a profitable book of business. Communicate underwriting decisions and appetite to internal and external customers. Ensure ease of doing business with Selective by meeting or exceeding customer expectations and service quality consistently. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, peers, and management. Conduct agency and customer visits across a broad regional geography. Participate in projects and initiatives as assigned. Must have a valid license and be able to drive in the territory to support business travel (car travel less than 10% of time).
