The Collections Specialist will perform various collection activities, provide customer service regarding collections issues, process payments, and help resolve client discrepancies.ResponsibilitiesPerform inbound and outbound collection calls across all stages of delinquencyResearch, identify, and resolve issues contributing to customer delinquencyMaintain accurate and detailed records of all customer interactions and account activitiesProvide exceptional customer service by resolving complex account issues, discrepancies, and disputesReview accounts to ensure compliance with internal policies, investor requirements, and applicable regulatory standardsAnalyze borrower financials to determine appropriate payment arrangements or retention optionsSkillsHigh School diploma or equivalentTypically requires 1–3 years of mortgage service experience and high‑volume collections experienceGoal‑oriented with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detailKnowledge of collections procedures and best practicesStrong knowledge of state and federal Fair Debt Collection Laws, the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, and bankruptcy procedures/regulationsExcellent customer service skills with the ability to manage conflict and negotiate successful outcomesStrong negotiation, active listening, and communication skillsAbility to analyze and interpret moderate to high‑complexity issues and make sound decisionsStrong problem‑solving, time‑management, and organizational skillsAbility to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environmentStrong attention to detail with the ability to meet goals and deadlinesAbility to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organizationCall center experience preferredBenefitsMedicalDentalVision401kPTO/paid sick leaveEmployee stock purchase planCompany OverviewFirst American provides financial services through its Title Insurance and Services segment and its Specialty Insurance segment.
