We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coding Specialist to join our team, specializing in E/M Coding. As a Coding Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of medical records, while maintaining compliance with accepted medical and legal standards.

Position: Coding Specialist - E/M Coding, a key role in our team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of medical records

As a Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and ensuring diagnosis codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines. You will also utilize coding resources, follow HIPAA regulations, and maintain a working knowledge of various laws and regulations that impact compliant coding.
Key Responsibilities:

Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes with modifiers for services provided in the professional fee environment
Review medical records and applicable documentation to determine appropriate codes for services and diagnoses
Ensure diagnosis codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines
Utilize coding resources and reference materials to ensure accuracy in coding
Follow HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality
Review and resolve coding edits and denials, and assist with rebilling claims when necessary

Requirements:

AAPC CPC certification required
3+ years of experience in E/M coding, with knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and medical terminology
Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to apply creative approaches to complicated questions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and maintain working relationships with physicians and staff
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

Work Environment:
A standard business environment with moderate noise levels, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods, lift and move approximately 30 pounds non-routinely, and handle objects, tools, and controls.
