Job description: Facilitates and obtains appropriate clinical medical record documentation on a concurrent basis to support appropriate|expected severity of illness|risk of mortality, complexity of care, medical necessity, and appropriate reimbursement for treatment and services provided. Must, after training, exhibit knowledge of clinical documentation requirements per ACDIS, AHIMA and CMS guidelines, DRG|code assignment and clinical conditions and procedures. Educates members of the patient care team regarding documentation guidelines. Education: Graduate from an approved Registered Professional Nursing program Work Experience: Minimum 5 years inpatient nursing experience, with at least 2 years on an adult unit (med|surge|critical care).; Must be able to work independently and within teams. Required: BSN and strong clinical background (Critical Care or ICU) Preferred: Prior CDI experience in 200+ bed acute care hospitals.
