[Remote] Chief Financial Officer

Sellside Group is a global M&A firm focused on sell-side and buy-side representation, seeking an experienced financial leader to serve as their first Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will lead the financial team, establish practices across the firm, and be the primary financial voice on all mandates, ensuring successful execution from engagement through closing.ResponsibilitiesThe CFO owns the financial workstream across all active sell-side mandates, interfacing directly with clients and internal deal teams throughout all three phases of an engagement:Preparing for Market : Build and organize the financial data room; develop financial models and supporting packages; ensure clean defensible financials from our clients that will pass a quality of earnings, contribute financial content to the Confidential Information Memorandum (CIM)On Market : Maintain and update financial models as new periods are received; support prospective buyer calls as the lead financial voice alongside the deal teamDue Diligence : Support business ownersβ financial responses and deliverables throughout the formal due diligence process to drive an efficient and successful closeAssume leadership of an existing team member from day one and grow the department in collaboration with the CEO and COO based on mandate volume and budgetEstablish standardized financial templates, quality control processes, and client intake procedures used consistently across all engagements and verticalsServe as SSG's financial standard-bearer β ensuring every deliverable meets the firm's quality standard regardless of deal team or mandate sizePartner with senior leadership to support SSG's internal financial operations as the firm scales, with scope expanding as the department maturesAs a value-add capability, review and analyze seller financials on behalf of SSG's buy-side clients, providing independent perspective to support valuation and acquisition decisionsSkills10+ years of relevant experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking, or Quality of EarningsBroad exposure to businesses across a wide range of industries and business modelsHands-on experience with data room construction, financial due diligence, financial model development, and investor- or buyer-facing financial presentationsDeep understanding of cash and accrual accounting, percentage of completion, work-in-progress (WIP), EBITDA, and EBITDA normalizationProficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, and Google Slides; experienced building charts, tables, and visual aids for financial presentationsAbility to translate complex financial data into clear, decision-ready insightExceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial data clearly and preciselyConfident and composed in client-facing settings, able to engage credibly with business owners, sophisticated buyers, and private equity firmsCollaborative with internal teams and authoritative when the moment calls for itMust be based in the United StatesFull-time, 100% remote; occasional client travel expected (not to exceed 20%)Ability to communicate and collaborate across time zones as part of a globally distributed teamExperience within SSG's nine industry verticals strongly preferredPrior experience in a leadership or management role is strongly preferredBenefitsCompetitive base salary with performance-based bonus opportunity401(k) with company matchMedical, dental, and vision coverageFlexible vacation and travel policy100% remote work environmentCompany OverviewSelling a business is one of the most important financial decisions you'll ever make.
