The Business Systems Analyst – Experienced operates with limited supervision and plays a key role in supporting business processes and enterprise technology systems, partnering closely with business units and technical teams to ensure solutions meet company standards and user requirements.ResponsibilitiesElicit, analyze, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirementsPerform gap analysis and issue analysis to identify business needs and improvement opportunitiesTranslate and simplify business requirements into clear technical specificationsDesign, document, and maintain business and system processesIdentify and design business and/or system improvement opportunitiesAssist in the development of business cases for strategic initiativesPlan, coordinate, and monitor project deliverablesManage small to mid-sized projects and/or project tasksApply knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and project lifecycle principlesEnsure technology solutions meet company standards and user requirementsServe as liaison between business units and technical teamsFacilitate communication between business stakeholders and technical resourcesManage requirements throughout the project lifecycleProvide guidance and feedback to less experienced staffWork collaboratively across departments to support enterprise initiativesSkills5+ years of business analyst experienceProven experience supporting broad-impact, cross-functional systemsAdvanced skills in requirements elicitation for business processes and system functionalityAdvanced general analysis and gap analysis skillsExperience generating multiple types of business and/or process documentationExperience identifying and designing business/system improvementsAbility to coordinate and manage small-sized projects and tasksStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with limited supervisionStrong facilitation and stakeholder management skillsOrganizational and documentation expertiseKnowledge of enterprise systems and strategic solution designProfessional Business Analyst certification (CBAP, CCBA, PBA) preferredCompany OverviewHorace Mann provides auto insurance, life insurance, and financial services.
