The role focuses on driving growth opportunities for the Department of War workforce by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within government and prime contractor sectors.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute the company’s growth strategy in a key mission area, owning government and prime contractor opportunitiesIdentify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned customer and mission setBuild and manage a qualified pipeline maintaining minimum coverage of annual growth targetsShape market awareness and specific opportunities by building capability statements, white papers, and solicitation responsesEstablish and manage strategic teaming relationships with primes, OEMs, and subcontractors to expand addressable market accessDevelop and execute capture plans aligned with customer acquisition strategiesDevelop account management plans and opportunity capture strategiesEffectively represent and promote GP-Gov to customer stakeholders and decision-makersBrief Leadership on pipeline projections and account management plans, documenting all business development activity and meetings in CRMPerform other job-related duties as assignedSkills10+ years of experience in federal and prime contractor business developmentProven track record of consistent success in securing competitive government contracts within the assigned customer and mission setEstablished professional network with target customers within the assigned customer and mission set, with strong preference for knowledge and networks within training, exercise, and range related customer setEnterprising self starter with strategic mindset and exceptional business acumen to establish and implement business development directionExceptional negotiation skills with a proven ability to conclude complex government contractsBachelor's degree requiredCapability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (existing Top Secret preferred)Significant BD experience within a large Prime Contractor and/or at a midsized subcontractor tier company selling into both prime contractor and government customersSignificant experience and a track record of wins both as a prime and a subcontractor to other major contractors in manufacture and maintenance of weapons systems and platforms and an active relevant professional networkPreferred background would include Navy and Marines support background, including experience working at and/or selling to one or multiple major prime contractors including Lockheed Martin, Huntington Ingall, BAE, CACI, Leidos, etc., and Navy commands such as USN NETC and USMC TECOMExperience applying the Shipley Business Development Lifecycle is preferredActive participation in federal contracting and business development organizations such as NDIA, AFCEA, PSC, ACT-IAC, or NCMA is preferredExperience with federal procurement databases (eg GovTribe, SAM.gov, FPDS) and CRM systems (eg Unanet) for managing business development pipelines and tracking opportunitiesMaster's degree, government service history or other relevant expertise or certifications are a plusCompany OverviewGP Strategies Government Solutions, a subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation, specializes in supporting federal, state, and local government agencies, defense contractors and commercial clients.
