[Remote] Business Analyst (Project Position)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Universities of Wisconsin is seeking a Business Analyst for a project position within the Workday Enterprise Solutions Team (WEST). This role involves leading process improvement projects, performing complex data analysis, and providing strategic guidance on reporting tools to support business needs and align with organizational priorities.ResponsibilitiesBuild and sustain strong relationships with business leaders, process owners, and end users in a matrixed environment to ensure alignment between unit needs and system capabilitiesDevelop a deep understanding of business processes, workflows, and challenges across assigned functional areasPerform complex data analysis to identify trends, issues, and opportunities, and translate findings into actionable recommendationsTroubleshoot and resolve reporting issues, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across systems and outputsProvide strategic guidance on reporting solutions, including selecting and designing tools such as Workday reports, Tableau dashboards, or other platforms to best meet business needsTranslate complex business requirements into clear functional specifications for system configuration and developmentPartner with WEST teams and vendors to design, implement, test, and deploy enhancementsLead change management efforts, including impact assessment, communication strategies, and end-user trainingFacilitate workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business expectationsMonitor business process performance and adoption, proactively identifying and driving opportunities for improvementCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable, campus-wide solutionsPerforms complex data analyses and reportingDesigns, develops, and implements complex data reporting and business intelligence systemsServes as a project lead for lower level IT staff providing guidance on specific project goals, outcomes, and technological componentsProvides direction for the mapping of business processes using advanced process-mapping methodologiesProvides advanced procedural and technical guidance to unit staff regarding technology usage and managementServes as a subject matter expert to institutional and unit leadership on critical technology issuesMakes recommendations in the selection of technology solutions to align with business strategiesDevelops and assesses opportunities for new unit staff training opportunitiesProvides guidance to lower level staff in the design, development, and implementation of data reporting and business intelligence systemsPerforms testing, supports end users and follows WEST team standardsSkillsDemonstrated experience analyzing complex business processes, requirements gathering, and developing business solutionsAbility to perform complex data analysisExperience working with ERP data (e.g., Workday), including understanding data models, relationships, and table structuresDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot reporting issues and ensure data accuracy and integrity across systemsAttention to detail with the ability to synthesize data and information into presentations and materialsStrong communication skills (written and verbal) to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levelsKnowledge of methods to analyze business needs and recommend relevant solutions including policy, process, or system improvements5+ years experience as a Business Analyst with progressively increasing responsibilities, or 3+ years experience supporting Workday as a Business AnalystProven experience leading process improvement projects or initiatives in higher education, government, or other complex organizationsExperience developing or supporting data visualization and reporting solutions (e.g., Workday Reporting, Tableau, or similar tools)Proven ability to recommend and implement reporting strategies or tools to support business decision-makingAdvanced knowledge of business processes and enterprise system implementations (preferably Workday)Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic liaison between technical and business teams, advocating for unit needsStrong project management skills, with the ability to guide initiatives from analysis through implementationExperience mentoring or coaching junior analysts or team membersAbility to engage with senior stakeholders to influence decision-making and drive sustainable, cross-functional solutionsBenefitsA comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.Company Overview13 universities. 1 mission.
