[Remote] Business Analyst, Payroll

The Business Analyst, Payroll is responsible for calculating variable compensation, auditing report data, and maintaining payroll system configurations while ensuring compliance with company policies.ResponsibilitiesCreate and maintain payroll templates for commissions and bonus calculations using system generated reportingCalculation commissions and bonuses timely and accurately on a bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly basisCalculate and document any manual adjustments for variable compensationProduce timely and accurate variable compensation statements for the fieldObtain and maintain proper approvals in accordance with company policiesCalculation overtime recalculation for bonusesMaintain system configurations to Time & Labor, Scheduling and Payroll systemsResearch system issues and partner with vendors to execute adjustments or test fixes to resolve issuesDocument any manual adjustments or processes related to time keeping and payroll calculations. Execute and audit processes as neededMonitor company and regulatory policies and assess impact to system configurationsWork with HR, Legal, etc. to ensure compliance with company and regulatory policies in system configurationsReport, expedite, and maintain documentation related to system discrepancies, risks, or manual workaroundsIdentify opportunities to streamline existing processes and to eliminate redundant or non-value-added workCollaborate within Payroll and with other teams (e.g. HR, Accounting, etc.) to execute process improvements as identifiedProvide feedback and recommendations for process improvements to ensure accuracy while maintaining efficiency in the calculation of variable compensationInitiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidanceExecute system testing, which includes creating detailed system test plans, performing the tests, and documenting test results to support initiatives, improvements, or issue resolutionsProactively and timely communicate testing updates or deadline concerns to managerIf required, train additional resources to aid with the testing processExecute monthly system accrual calculations for the Accounting departmentProvide timely customer support to field and corporate personnel by responding to daily inquiries and researching questions sent to Payroll that the Technicians/Specialists cannot support due to required technical expertiseExecute and document established Sarbanes-Oxley controlsIdentify opportunities for additional controls and work to bring controls to fruitionIdentify data issues and inconsistencies and work with business partners to resolveEnsure data accuracy and compliance within company policies and security proceduresComplete ad hoc reporting and analysis requests as needed with little to no supervisionReview, analyze, and provide rigorous feedback regarding proposed changes to compensation plansCalculate various elements of variable compensation for field and corporate personnel, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory policiesComplete analysis requests from business partners with regard to compensation changes and proposalsSkillsAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills (complex formulas, data analysis, pivot tables and macros)Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Tableau) preferredExperience with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, UKG, or similarStrong understanding of payroll processes, compliance requirements, and data accuracy controlsProven experience in business analysis, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation (BRDs, user stories)Ability to analyze complex data and identify discrepancies or process improvement opportunitiesStrong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness in resolving issuesAbility to build and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing clear and concise reportsAbility to prioritize work, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervisionBachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience4+ years of work experience with increasing professional level responsibilitiesKnowledge of SQL queriesKnowledge of SnowflakePayroll CertificationsPrevious experience in Payroll and/or AccountingPayroll experience with a bi-weekly pay cycleExperience working a multi-location service environmentExperience working with multiple system domainsExperience with ADP Vantage, Kronos eTime/Advanced SchedulerExperience in using reporting writing tools within the payroll systemBenefitsPaid time offMedical and dental coverage401k with match for qualifying positionsA free gym membershipDiscounts on products and personal trainingA variety of Employee Resource Groups that you can connect with to participate in community events both in-person and virtuallyCompany Overview24 Hour Fitness is the world's largest privately owned and operated fitness center chain, and third in number of clubs behind Gold's Gym It was founded in 1983, and is headquartered in Carlsbad, California, USA, with a workforce of 5001-10000 employees.
