They are seeking a motivated Bioinformatics Scientist I to apply advanced knowledge in bioinformatics and computational biology to support clinical labs and R&D groups, collaborating closely on high-impact projects involving complex data interpretation and algorithm development. Responsibilities β’ Advanced Data Analysis: Perform sophisticated analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, or proteomic datasets using state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools and pipelines β’ Algorithm Development and Optimization: Develop, refine, and implement algorithms for data processing, including sequence alignment, variant calling, gene expression analysis, and network biology β’ Software Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of bioinformatics software tools and pipelines, ensuring they meet the research needs of the team β’ Collaborative Research: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, providing bioinformatics expertise to support ongoing research projects and studies β’ Data Interpretation and Reporting: Analyze and interpret complex biological data, preparing detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders β’ Literature Review and Research: Stay abreast of the latest bioinformatics methodologies and advancements, integrating new approaches into ongoing projects β’ Mentorship and Guidance: Provide guidance to junior team members or interns, sharing your expertise and contributing to a collaborative learning environment Skills β’ Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, or a related field β’ Strong proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python, R, Perl, or Java β’ Experience with high-throughput sequencing data (e.g., RNA-Seq, DNA-Seq) and familiarity with bioinformatics tools like BLAST, GATK, Bowtie, and others β’ Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex datasets and derive meaningful insights β’ Previous research experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills β’ Ability to convey complex technical information to both scientific and non-scientific audiences β’ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment β’ Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills β’ Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, or a related field β’ Experience with machine learning or AI applications in biology Benefits β’ Medical β’ Dental β’ Vision β’ Life β’ STD/LTD β’ 401(k) β’ Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO) β’ Tuition Reimbursement β’ Employee Stock Purchase Plan Company Overview β’ Fortrea is a provider of comprehensive Phase I through IV clinical trial management, clinical pharmacology, patient access solutions.
