The Data Engineer / Data Project Lead will oversee the design, development, and implementation of data management solutions to improve operational efficiency and decision-making for Head Start programs.ResponsibilitiesLead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data management, reporting, workflow automation, and system integration solutionsManage complex data engineering projects from planning through deployment, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with business requirementsDesign and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, databases, data warehouses, and reporting systemsDevelop and manage API integrations and automated workflows across multiple systems and platformsEstablish and enforce data governance, data quality, security, and compliance standardsCollaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutionsMonitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement process and technology improvementsProvide technical leadership, supervision, coaching, and mentoring to project team membersManage project plans, priorities, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communicationsEvaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI-enabled data and automation solutionsPrepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for leadership and stakeholdersResolve project, client, and team issues while promoting collaboration and continuous improvementSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or universityAt least 10 years of relevant post-baccalaureate professional experience in data engineering, data management, database administration, system integration, business intelligence, analytics, or related technical fieldsMinimum 3 years of progressive supervisory or team leadership experienceDemonstrated experience leading complex, high-profile, multi-faceted data projectsExperience overseeing enterprise data solutions, workflow automation initiatives, and system integrationsAdvanced knowledge of database design, data modeling, ETL development, data warehousing, and enterprise data architectureStrong proficiency in SQL and PythonExperience with API development, system integration, and workflow automationKnowledge of data governance, data security, and information management best practicesExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS and AzureFamiliarity with Docker, Confluence, and related development toolsExperience working with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, and other relational databasesExperience managing large-scale data projects from planning through implementation and continuous improvementProven ability to supervise, coach, mentor, and develop technical staffStrong project planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skillsProven ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve project, client, and team issuesExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiencesProven ability to effectively communicate to various audiences when speaking and in writingMust be able to communicate, collaborate and interact with colleagues in a remote work environment; must participate in virtual meetings, appear on camera as needed, and contribute to meeting content as requiredRelevant certifications in project management, Agile methodologies, cloud technologies, data engineering, or related disciplinesExperience working with federal information systemsAt least 1 year of experience supporting Head Start, Early Head Start, or early childhood education programs highly preferredExperience applying artificial intelligence technologies within data engineering, analytics, or automation environments preferredAgile, Scrum, PMP, or related project management certifications preferredProficiency with computer, Internet, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); experience with SharePoint and Monday.com desirableExperience with video meetings/conferencing (e.g., Zoom, Adobe, MS Teams)BenefitsPartially subsidized medical, dental and vision coverageFully vested 401k plan with company matchCompany paid life and disability insurance plansPaid family leaveA generous paid time off policyCompany OverviewBCT Partners is a consulting firm that provides insights about diverse people that lead to equity.
