[Remote] Backend Engineer

They are seeking backend engineers to design and build new features, enhance existing capabilities, and ensure the smooth operation of mission-critical backend systems and services.ResponsibilitiesDesign and build new features or enhance existing featuresAdd capabilities to the various backend systems and services that support Wealthfront’s productsImprove the maintainability and stability of the codebase by fixing issues and adding necessary enhancements to existing backend systemsEnsure that mission critical backend systems and services operate smoothly in production by triaging and resolving operational issues as part of a team of on-call engineersProactively identify opportunities for improving the reliability and scalability of our systemsParticipate in recruiting activities such as interviewing and attending career fairsProvide mentorship to other engineers on the teamSkills2-6 years of experience in developing backend components, services or APIs in Java or a similar languageKnowledge and understanding of distributed systems and functional programming paradigmsKnowledge of SQL and experience working with online data stores (ideally something like MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server but NoSQL is okay)Passion for agile, test-driven development, continuous integration and automated testingPassion for working on platforms and backend systems that have measurable business impactAbility to work in a fast paced cross functional environmentEither a BS or MS in computer science or related fieldExperience working with Spark pipelinesKnowledge of an ORM technology such as HibernateExperience working with a dependency injection framework (one of Guice, Spring, Pico, Dagger)Education RequirementsEither a BS or MS in computer science or related field.BenefitsMedicalVisionDental401K planGenerous time offParental leaveWellness reimbursementsProfessional developmentEmployee investing discountAnd more!Company OverviewWealthfront integrates investing and saving products to help young professionals build long-term wealth in any market condition.
