[Remote] Azure Platform Engineer

Alpha FMC is seeking an Azure Platform Engineer to lead the design and ownership of the Azure foundation for a municipal modernization program. This hands-on role involves overseeing the Azure environment structure, CI/CD standards, and infrastructure-as-code strategy to ensure a secure and compliant cloud foundation.ResponsibilitiesPlatform Architecture & Environment OwnershipEstablish and manage dev, test, and production environments with strict separationDefine secure networking, identity, and role-based access boundariesConfigure VNETs, NSGs, private endpoints, and hybrid connectivity (VPN / ExpressRoute)Establish standardized patterns for App Services, Azure SQL, storage, and shared servicesDefine platform standards to be used consistently across consolidated applicationsDesign and maintain standardized CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOpsDevelop reusable pipeline templates and release patternsImplement approval gates, rollback strategies, and deployment controls aligned to audit requirementsEnsure consistent deployment practices across application teamsEnsure all infrastructure deployments are executed through CI/CD pipelines using IaC templates (no manual provisioning)All infrastructure must be provisioned and maintained via Terraform or BicepEstablish IaC as the only approved deployment mechanism for cloud resourcesEnforce code review, version control, and change traceability for all infrastructure changesPrevent manual configuration drift across environmentsEmbed FedRAMP Moderate–aligned controls into platform designImplement centralized logging, monitoring, and retention policiesConfigure Azure Policy and Defender for Cloud guardrailsImplement secrets and certificate management using Azure Key VaultEstablish audit traceability for infrastructure and deployment changesSupport disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testingSupport production deployments and release windowsTroubleshoot infrastructure and pipeline issuesDefine and maintain platform standards and operational runbooksImplement cost governance and resource optimization strategiesSkillsA Bachelors' degree in a related field, along with at least 5 years' experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructureStrong hands-on Azure experience in regulated or audit-sensitive environmentsExperience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline designDemonstrated ownership of enterprise-scale Infrastructure-as-Code programs (Terraform), including governance and enforcement of IaC-only deployment standardsExperience embedding compliance and security controls into cloud platformsWorking knowledge of FedRAMP Moderate or comparable compliance frameworksExperience supporting municipal or public sector programsExperience leading on-premises to Azure migrationsAzure certifications (Administrator, DevOps Engineer, Architect)BenefitsContractor may be hired as W2 through a Partner agency.Company OverviewAlpha Financial Markets Consulting is a leading global consultancy to the financial services industry.
