Parsons Corporation is a leading company in the infrastructure sector, seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to support rail and transit projects. The role involves contributing to mechanical engineering tasks across the full project lifecycle, including planning, design, and construction, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.ResponsibilitiesSupport mechanical engineering tasks for rail and transit projects across all phases: planning, design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioningAssist in the preparation and review of mechanical engineering deliverables, which may include:Mechanical systems and components for rail vehicles and transit infrastructureStation and tunnel mechanical systems and equipment (e.g., ventilation equipment, pumps, mechanical equipment layouts, lifting and handling equipment)Mechanical aspects of yards, shops, and maintenance facilitiesEvaluate mechanical systems and components for:Code and standard compliance (industry, rail, and safety standards)Physical and operational deficiencies that may require repair, replacement, or capital upgradesPrepare and assist with:Drawings, details, and specifications suitable for procurement and constructionStandard engineering computations and analysesMaterial quantity takeoffs and project cost estimatesSurveys and basic mechanical designs for rail and transit applicationsUtilize CAE/CAD and other engineering software to develop, revise, and document mechanical designsPrepare detailed requisitions for mechanical equipment and materialsReview small, or portions of larger, supplier and manufacturer submittals and assist in performing technical bid analyses for mechanical equipment and systemsPrepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction and procurement documents for rail and transit mechanical componentsProvide technical and operational support to rail and transit projects and programs as directedCoordinate with project managers and discipline leads across systems, civil, structural, electrical, and construction teamsPerform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriateSkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplineBasic knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and processesWorking knowledge of CAD and common PC software tools used in engineeringEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certificationRelevant internship or co-op experience in rail, transit, transportation, or mechanical systems projectsExposure to or coursework in: Rail and transit systems or transportation engineeringMechanical systems used in transportation infrastructureCodes and standards applicable to rail and transit projectsBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionPaid time offEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)401(k)Life insuranceFlexible work schedulesHolidaysCompany OverviewParsons is an engineering, construction, technical and management services firm for national security and global infrastructure markets.
