[Remote] Aircraft Certification Engineer - Avionics/Software Systems

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH) is looking for an Aircraft Certification Engineer - Avionics/Software Systems to support the airworthiness certification of military commercial derivative aircraft. The role involves serving as a technical authority on certification strategies and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and military airworthiness standards.ResponsibilitiesProvide Subject Matter Expert (SME) level understanding of Avionics systems and embedded software development relating to all aircraft systemsServe as the technical SME for aircraft certification, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations (including RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-254) and MIL-HDBK-516C airworthiness requirementsDevelop, review and execute certification plans for MCDA programsInterface with military airworthiness authorities and DER/DAR representatives to coordinate approval activitiesIdentify and resolve certification gaps arising from the interaction of civil and military airworthiness requirementsMentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of internal certification processes, tools, and best practicesPerform other duties as assignedSkillsBachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline15+ years of experience in aircraft certification related to aircraft avionics/software systems, with direct involvement in FAA type certification or supplemental type certificate (STC) programsMust have a thorough working knowledge of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR - especially Chapter I, Part 25 and (RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-254), as it pertains to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulation procedures and the STC processRequires experience in program management, effective communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate certification programs for alterations and modificationsShould have experience creating certification documents such as ICAs, Ground/Flight Test Plans, Compliance Checklists, Project Specific Certification Plans, etcPrior experience with military commercial derivative aircraft programsAbility to pass a Tier 1 (minimum) Investigation for work on Department of Defense contracts.
