The role focuses on developing and deploying liquid cooling solutions for high-density data centers, requiring strong knowledge of GPU-based AI hardware and thermal management principles.ResponsibilitiesDesign, analyze, and deploy liquid cooling systems (single-phase, two-phase, immersion, and hybrid) for high-density data centersPerform thermal modeling, CFD simulations, and performance optimization for CPU and GPU workloadsCommission and validate CDUs, cold plates, immersion tanks, and thermal test vehicles at lab and facility scaleEvaluate system resiliency and reliability under operational and failure scenariosCollaborate with hyperscalers, OEMs, and partners to align solutions with AI/HPC workload demandsContribute to patent filings, publications, and industry standards engagementSkillsPhD or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldProven data center cooling experience, particularly in GPU/AI hardware environmentsStrong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamicsProficiency in CFD tools (ANSYS, Fluent, Modelica, Icepak, Cadence 6Sigma) and instrumentation for performance validationDemonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, and deliver results with minimal supervisionTrack record of innovation, patents, or technical publications in thermal managementCompany OverviewJohnson Controls is a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency and decarbonization.
