Remote Agricultural Data Scientist

Remote Full-time
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and innovative Remote Agricultural Data Scientist to join their pioneering team. This position is fully remote, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will leverage advanced data analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling techniques to extract meaningful insights from agricultural data, driving improvements in crop yields, resource efficiency, and sustainable farming practices. Your work will directly impact how food is produced, contributing to global food security and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities include collecting, cleaning, and processing large datasets from various sources, such as sensors, drones, satellite imagery, and historical farm records. You will develop predictive models for crop performance, pest/disease outbreaks, and optimal resource allocation (water, fertilizer). Collaborating with agronomists, researchers, and farm managers, you will translate complex data findings into practical, actionable recommendations for farmers and agricultural businesses. This role requires staying at the forefront of data science and agricultural technology, experimenting with new tools and methodologies to continuously enhance analytical capabilities. The ability to work independently, communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences, and manage projects remotely is crucial.

Required qualifications include a Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Agronomy, or a related quantitative field. Significant experience (5+ years) in data science, with a strong focus on agricultural applications, is essential. Proven expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data manipulation tools (e.g., SQL, Spark) are necessary. Experience with geospatial data analysis and remote sensing is highly desirable. Strong understanding of agricultural principles, crop science, and farming operations is a significant advantage. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are required to effectively convey technical insights in a remote setting.
