The Adjunct Faculty role involves maintaining academic presence, facilitating student learning, and contributing to professional development while reporting directly to the department chair.ResponsibilitiesInteracts directly with students in an appropriate, professional mannerFacilitates a safe and productive learning environment for studentsResponds in a timely manner to student requests for information, clarification of content, posts, and personal queries, and contacts inactive students as the need arisesOversees the quality of the course by reviewing the functionality and content, ensuring high-quality delivery of contentExpands the student experience by 'fingerprinting' the course content with unique personal experience, insights, or other professional knowledgeMonitors and provides appropriate student feedback on assignments within college policiesSynthesize and reports student performance data in a timeline mannerSupports the policies procedures and guidelines of the program and institutionAid student learning of ethical conduct, particularly related to plagiarism and copyright infringement; follows appropriate procedures in reporting infractionsDirects students to supplemental resources as needed to enhance their individual skills and abilitiesWorks collaboratively with colleagues and leadership of the college including attending required meetingsPromotes the vision, mission, and culture of the college within and beyond the institutionProvides appropriate leadership within one’s individual sphere of influenceMaintains a professional and technical knowledge of the curricula and industry by participating in leading-edge educational workshops/seminars, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societiesEnsures the quality of program and course offerings by supporting and promoting researchSkillsEarned a terminal degree and experience in Leadership, Higher Education, Research or Community College1+ year experience in teaching and leadership in a formal educational setting using both traditional and non-traditional teaching formats, higher education strongly preferredDemonstrated experience in successfully developing online/virtual professional relationshipsEvidence of professional research and/or creative endeavors and expertise in the fieldBenefitsOpportunities to serve on paid committeesReceive payment for writing and developing coursesCompany OverviewAmerican College of Education is an online, regionally accredited college.
