The Accounting & Financial Outsourcing Senior Manager – Nonprofit Services provides strategic financial advisory and engagement leadership to nonprofit clients, overseeing the delivery of outsourced accounting services and ensuring high-quality service delivery while managing client relationships.ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary strategic financial advisor to a portfolio of nonprofit clients, including Executive Directors, CEOs, Finance Committees, and BoardsProvide guidance on financial strategy, sustainability planning, and operational decision-makingLead the development, monitoring, and analysis of organizational and program budgetsDeliver cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and financial modeling to support client decision-makingOversee the full accounting lifecycle for nonprofit clients, including month-end and year-end close processesEnsure financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP for nonprofit organizations, including proper classification of net assets and donor restrictionsOversee and manage grant accounting, compliance, and reporting across complex funding sources, including federal, state, and private grantsSupport clients in the development of grant budgets, financial narratives, and funding strategiesGuide clients on allowable costs, cost allocation methodologies, and indirect cost recovery strategiesMonitor grant performance, including burn rates, match requirements, and reporting deadlinesSupport clients through Uniform Guidance audits and other compliance reviewsDevelop and deliver financial dashboards, KPIs, and management reports for leadership and boardsDesign and oversee implementation of accounting systems, chart of accounts, and financial processes aligned to nonprofit operations and grant trackingLead onboarding and implementation of new nonprofit clients, including cloud-based accounting platforms (e.g., Sage Intacct, Bill.com)Review and supervise work performed by engagement teams to ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of deliverablesMaintain expertise in nonprofit accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practicesBuild and maintain strong, trusted advisor relationships with nonprofit clients by understanding their mission, funding model, and strategic prioritiesCommunicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders, including boards and executive leadershipLead engagement teams by setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and ensuring accountability for high-quality service deliveryDemonstrate strong client relationship management skills, including responsiveness, professionalism, and proactive communicationCollaborate effectively with internal service lines, including technology, tax, and standardization across engagementsChampion adoption of technology solutions and process improvements, including cloud-based accounting toolsParticipate in recruiting activities, including interviewing candidates and supporting hiring decisionsDevelop and deliver internal training programs related to nonprofit accounting, grant compliance, and AFO best practicesContribute to internal committees, firm initiatives, and practice development effortsStay informed on nonprofit sector trends and regulatory changes and share insights with team members and clientsSkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience serving nonprofit organizationsDemonstrated expertise in nonprofit accounting and financial reportingDemonstrated expertise in grant accounting and complianceDemonstrated expertise in donor-restricted fund managementDemonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelingExperience managing client relationships and multiple engagementsExperience leading and developing accounting teamsStrong ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial
