They are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage their financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and compliance while providing strategic financial insights to support the company's growth.ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage the full accounting cycle, from journal entries to financial closePrepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flowDeliver timely financial reports to ownership with clear analysis and actionable insightsMonitor financial performance against budget and flag variances proactivelyManage federal, state, and local tax filings, including Colorado sales tax, payroll tax, and annual business returnsCoordinate with external tax advisors and ensure all filings are accurate and on timeMaintain full compliance with GAAP and applicable regulationsOversee contractor and vendor 1099 preparation and filingLead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with ownershipDevelop cash flow forecasts and assist with short and long-term financial planningProvide cost analysis on projects and identify opportunities for margin improvementSupport strategic decisions with accurate financial modeling and reportingOversee payroll processing and ensure accuracy and complianceEstablish and maintain internal financial controls and accounting proceduresReview and reconcile all bank and credit card accounts monthlyManage accounts payable and receivable oversightSupervise and mentor our Bookkeeper, providing guidance and review of their workMaintain and optimize our accounting systems, QuickBooks Online or DesktopIdentify and implement process improvements across the financial functionLiaise with external auditors, CPAs, and financial institutions as neededSkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA preferred3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in construction, contracting, or a trade services environmentDeep proficiency in QuickBooks Online or DesktopStrong working knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and financial reportingExperience with job costing and project-based accountingProven ability to work independently and manage competing prioritiesExcellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detailClear, professional communication, you will interact directly with ownership and external partnersCPA license or active pursuit of CPA designationExperience in the construction or trades industryFamiliarity with Colorado state tax requirements and contractor billing regulationsExperience supervising or mentoring junior accounting staffKnowledge of payroll platforms, Gusto, ADP, or similarBenefitsHealth insurance 7 employer-assisted contributionPaid time off 7 10 days per year to startPaid holidays 7 8 federal holidays observedSimple IRA with 3% employer matchProfessional development supportFully remote-friendly: work from wherever you areFlexible schedule : we care about results, not clock-watchingDirect access to ownership 7 no corporate layers, no approval chainsAnnual performance reviews with compensation growth tied to resultsReal opportunity to grow 7 as Fulbright Construction scales, so does this roleCompany OverviewFulbright Construction was incorporated in December 2004.
