The Strategist, Paid Media is responsible for managing a portfolio of paid media clients, ensuring client satisfaction, and identifying growth opportunities through effective campaign management.ResponsibilitiesOwn the day-to-day management of client accounts, including regular communication, reporting, and performance updatesServe as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, addressing questions and concerns promptly and professionallyBuild strong, trust-based relationships with clients to support retention and upsell opportunitiesLead client meetings, communicating insights, results, and recommendations clearlyProactively identify upsell opportunities or service improvements to help clients reach their goals and grow their accountsActively contribute to the strategic direction of accounts by identifying new growth opportunities, optimization paths, and marketing channel tacticsCollaborate with and delegate tasks to Specialists or Associates as appropriate, providing clear direction and supportProvide guidance, mentorship, or training to less experienced team membersTake initiative on internal agency projects or process improvements that benefit the broader Paid Media divisionMay supervise one or more direct reports, conducting performance reviews, check-ins, and supporting professional developmentProvide support and guidance to specialists and associates in setting up and optimizing campaigns across Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram, Microsoft Ads, and other relevant platformsIn some cases, provide execution support to Leads on more complex accountsIndependently manage the execution alongside client management for smaller clientsMonitor performance via dashboards and ensure reports reflect current data and actionable insightsEnsure campaigns follow best practices for structure, targeting, and creative alignment with client goalsIf applicable, perform local SEO work including content writing, posting to social media, managing Google Business profilesSkills3–4 years of experience managing paid media campaigns (Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram Ads required)At least 2 years of client-facing or customer service experienceGoogle Ads Search certification required; additional platform certifications (e.g., Meta Blueprint, Microsoft Ads) preferredDemonstrated ability to manage complex campaigns and meet performance goals independentlyTechnical Expertise: Strong executional knowledge of paid media platforms and digital marketing principlesClient-Focused: Proven track record of building client relationships, improving retention, and identifying growth opportunitiesAnalytical Mindset: Comfortable using data to drive decisions and explain results to clientsLeadership Potential: Shows initiative and capability to lead internal projects or mentor junior staffCuriosity & Learning: Continuously explores new strategies, platforms, and technologies to improve performance and processesProven Success: History of driving client results through strong ROI, upsells, and account growthCompany OverviewSmartBug Media is a digital and content marketing firm that offers a variety of services to its clients.
