Remote SQL Developer (Contract)
We are looking for an experienced SQL Developer to support our DevOps team during a major migration of our payment processing platform to Azure SQL Managed Instance. This role focuses heavily on SQL performance, stored procedures, and database migration tasks.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Maintain and optimise SQL Server databases (10ā20GB; operational, reporting, security).
ā¢ Update, test, and troubleshoot stored procedures and SQL logic.
ā¢ Support the migration to Azure SQL Managed Instance, including restores, logins, connection updates, and validation.
ā¢ Assist with performance tuning, indexing, and query optimisation.
ā¢ Participate in testing workflows, including critical transaction validation.
ā¢ Work with DevOps to ensure secure, reliable, and monitored SQL operations.
Requirements
ā¢ 5+ years SQL Server development experience.
ā¢ Strong T-SQL, performance tuning, indexing, and query optimisation skills.
ā¢ Hands-on experience with Azure SQL (Managed Instance preferred).
ā¢ Experience with high-uptime, transactional systems.
ā¢ Strong debugging, testing, and documentation skills.
Nice to Have
ā¢ Exposure to .NET applications.
ā¢ Experience with automation tools (Pulumi/Terraform).
ā¢ Understanding of Azure networking (Private Endpoints, VPN).
