Job Description

At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta’s Product Biology Team is seeking an R&D Scientist 1 in Vero Beach, FL, USA. Join Syngenta's Crop Protection Field Development Biological Region (CPFD-BR) team and be part of accelerating the development of biological and biostimulant products that are shaping the future of sustainable agriculture. This role works closely alongside an R&D Scientist to design and implement innovative testing methodologies and evaluate biological products across lab, greenhouse, and field environments.

Accountabilities
Design and execute high-quality biological trials across lab, greenhouse, and field environments—such as testing methodologies, application protocols, and efficacy evaluations for biostimulant and soil and plant health products.
Lead trial planning end-to-end—define experimental objectives, design trial layouts, oversee implementation, and ensure the generation of reliable, reproducible data that meets stage gate and label development requirements.
Analyze trial results and drive decisions—interpret data, provide development recommendations, and identify opportunities to expand product labels or explore new applications.

Qualifications

Required:
Advanced degree required (M.S. or Ph.D.) in agronomy, plant pathology, microbiology, soil science, entomology, weed science, or a related agricultural field, with working knowledge of biostimulant and/or biological products.
Hands-on research experience designing and conducting field trials, biological profiling, and product efficacy evaluations, with the ability to generate critical data that supports business goals.
Analytical and data-driven, with experience in statistical analysis and sound decision-making based on data, constraints, and real-world outcomes.
Strong agronomic foundation with broad crop production knowledge and the ability to translate science into practical field application.
Collaborative and cross-functional—works effectively across teams and organizational boundaries, builds trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and contributes actively to shared goals.
Clear communicator and problem-solver with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, an innovative mindset, and the drive to set ambitious goals and deliver results.
