Role Description This is a remote contract role for a Python Developer/Programmer. The individual in this role will be responsible for supporting the development of a Python-based middleware file service processor to replace OpenVMS server processing, and all identified DCL scripts (including POLLVAX, TO_FDSYS, and any additional scripts discovered during analysis) residing on the Legacy OpenVMS systems. Contractors shall employ agile practices, MS DevOps, and frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) based on the scope of work to be performed by each team, and as directed by GPO. Qualifications Skills and Experience Required Technical Qualifications: Backend Developers (Python): •Python 3.9+ with 5+ years enterprise experience •FastAPI, Django, and Flask framework expertise •RESTful API development and OpenAPI documentation •Database integration (PostgreSQL, SQLite preferred) •Legacy system integration experience (3+ years) Frontend/Client Developers: •Cross-platform GUI development (PyQt6, PySide6, or web-based) •Desktop GUI application development experience •508 Compliance and accessibility standards •Consuming FASTAPI with Swagger UI Required Certifications (All Developers): •Python Institute Certification (PCAP, PCPP, or PCEP) - MANDATORY Clearance Requirements: •Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance •Clean background investigation eligibility Preferred Experience: •Government contracting experience •Large-scale system modernization projects •File processing and document management systems
