PT Library Circulation Assistant

CIRCULATION ASSISTANT/COURIER Part Time: 20-25 hours per week Lancaster County Library-Main Under the supervision of the Circulation Manager and Director, the Courier Driver sorts and delivers books and other library materials to and from the existing library locations, including our Del Webb Branch in Indian Land and the Kershaw Branch. Courier Driver services are provided Monday through Friday. The position also works at the public service desk assisting users with basic Library functions; duties include, but are not limited to: Assists customers by issuing library cards, checking materials in & out, placing holds, & locating materials using an automated library system; assists patrons on site or by telephone with basic informational & directional requests; assists customers in use of library catalogs, computers, copiers, printers, & other equipment throughout the library; handles fines, fees, & payments; interprets & communicates general library policies & procedures in a pleasant manner to patrons; ability to operate equipment such as telephone, computers, copiers, faxes, etc. Searches for needed materials, & shelves accurately according to prescribed locations; performs opening & closing procedures; performs other associated duties as required or assigned. High School graduate, plus two years relevant work experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Ability to perform duties of job. Familiarity with general PC operations in Windows environment. Excellent reading & verbal ability. Knowledge of library collections & services or willingness to learn. Aptitude for detailed work. Efficiency & friendliness.
