The Behavioral Wealth Institute (BWI) is a mission-driven private practice located in Alexandria, Virginia. We provide psychotherapy and psychological services rooted in evidence-based treatment and cultural sensitivity.

Our clients are primarily diverse and minority individuals and families, and our work is grounded in values of cultural humility, respect, clinical excellence, warmth, and ethical care. We are seeking a Psychology Resident/Postdoctoral Fellow who feels aligned with this mission and wants to grow in a supportive private-practice training environment.

Position Overview

This position is for a Psychology Resident / Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow providing outpatient psychotherapy (with optional opportunities for psychological assessment/testing depending on competency and interest). The role includes structured supervision as a benefit and is intended to support clinical growth and licensure readiness.

Supervision is provided by a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

What You’ll Do
• Provide outpatient psychotherapy
• Complete intake assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning
• Maintain timely, high-quality documentation in the EHR
• Participate in ongoing supervision and case consultation
• Coordinate care/collaborate as needed (with PCPs, schools, etc.)
• Optional: psychological testing/assessment cases and report-writing (track dependent)

Supervision + Training

BWI strongly values clinician support and development. This role includes:
• Weekly individual supervision with a licensed clinical psychologist
• Clinical consultation and mentorship as needed
• Support navigating risk assessment, documentation, complex cases, and ethical decision-making
• Professional development in private-practice systems and clinical workflow
• Guidance toward VA licensure requirements (as applicable)

Qualifications

Required:
• PsyD or PhD in Clinical/Counseling Psychology (accredited program)
• Completed APA/APPIC internship (or equivalent)
• Eligible for Psychology Resident/Postdoctoral Fellow status in Virginia
• Strong writing and documentation skills
• Strong time management skills
• Commitment to ethical practice and culturally sensitive care

Preferred:
• Experience with diverse/racial minority populations
• Interest or experience in psychological assessment/testing
