Property Management Accountant – Buildium Trust Accounting (Remote)

We are seeking a Property Management Accountant with direct experience in Buildium to take full ownership of our trust accounting and monthly owner statements. We currently have ~ 20 properties under management and have growth goals to triple in the next 12 months. We are looking for a long-term partnership with room for growth. Presently, we have a need for 8-12 hours per month with the expectation of more over time. Expectations: - Maintain accurate, compliant trust accounting within Buildium compliant with the State of New Mexico - Post and verify all tenant, owner, and vendor transactions - Perform monthly bank (and ledger if necessary) reconciliations - Prepare and release accurate monthly owner statements by an agreed-upon deadline (no later than 20th of each month) - Identify, document, and resolve accounting discrepancies proactively Skills Required: - Property management trust accounting experience - Hands-on Buildium experience (trust accounting, owner statements, trust account reconciliations, chart of accounts modifications, sales tax/gross receipts tax collection) - Strong bank reconciliation and month-end close skills - High attention to detail and documentation -Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Communication Style: - Clear, professional, and timely communication - Proactive reporting of issues or discrepancies - Coordination with our Property Manager as needed for approvals, clarifications, or funding/billing matters How We Work: - We use written procedures and value consistency - The accountant owns accounting accuracy and compliance - We are open to efficiency collaboration to enhance our accounting methods & software use - Our Property Manager remains client-facing; this role focuses on backend accounting only - We value long-term partnerships and clear accountability If you have direct Buildium property management accounting (and App Folio as we have future plans to transition software) experience and are looking for a stable, ongoing role, we’d like to hear from you.
