Property Field Adjuster
Key Responsibilities
Travel to the location of the loss to inspect damaged property (homes, businesses, or other structures).
Assess damage caused by perils such as fire, windstorm, hail, water, theft, and vandalism.
Capture and document detailed photographs, measurements, and descriptions of the damage.
Prepare comprehensive reports and estimates for property repair or replacement costs.
Use estimating software (such as Xactimate) to generate detailed estimates of repair.
Work with contractors, engineers, and other professionals to determine repair scope.
Review the terms of the insurance policy to determine coverage and exclusions.
Assess total loss situations and determine settlement value based on policy limits.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all claim activity, inspections, and communications.
Prepare and submit timely reports, including findings, estimates, and recommendations for claims settlement.
Communicate with policyholders, contractors, and repair companies regarding the scope of work and cost of repairs.
Negotiate settlements with policyholders and third parties based on policy coverage and damage assessment.
Ensure timely resolution of claims while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Work closely with internal claims teams, underwriters, and management to ensure proper handling of claims.
Collaborate with other adjusters, claims examiners, and legal teams, when necessary, especially for complex or high-value claims.
Serve as the primary point of contact for policyholders during the claims process.
Provide guidance and explain the claims process, policy coverage, and resolution options to policyholders.
Ensure all claims handling practices comply with state and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Stay updated on changes in insurance laws and best practices for claims handling.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
5 - 10 years prior experience as a property adjuster or in a similar role is preferred.
Familiarity with claims management software and estimating software like Xactimate.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to assess damage, review policy language, and make sound decisions regarding claim outcomes.
A focus on delivering excellent service to policyholders during difficult times.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to document findings thoroughly.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
