Project Manager II

Velocity is recruiting for a dynamic Project Manager II. The Project Manager II will provide project planning, project organization, project execution and project management for efforts. For this role, these efforts will mainly be focused on customer related projects – project managing Proof of Concepts, pilots, early-stage roll outs, and overall roll outs.



Strong candidates would have an aptitude for thinking outside the box, enjoy critical thinking, organization, customer management and overall team management. The Project Manager II should be experienced in managing multiple concurrent efforts, and flexible working in a fluid environment.

Success in this role is measured by the PM’s ability to ensure that projects are completed to specification, within an established time frame and budget while skillfully managing customer’s expectations and building or maintaining a strong professional relationship.



This position provides overall project planning, project organization, project execution, and project management for efforts within the company in coordination with stakeholders (internal / external), Velocity teams, and customers.



This position can be performed fully remote, but we have a hiring preference to Charlotte/Mooresville, NC or Holland, Ohio areas.

Key Responsibilities:



Customer management

Understand customer business and operational needs

Analyze what has been proposed/sold and compare it to the way the customer does business and make sure we are providing a solution that meets customers’ expectations and needs

In POC/Pilot work with the customers through an iterative process to define the solution

Skillful in managing customer’s expectations and building or maintaining a strong professional relationship

Project Stewardship

Accountable to deliver projects on time, on budget, and meeting customers’ requirements and Velocity standards

Manage project risks and escalate issues/risks as appropriate

Develop and maintain plans which outline project status individual tasks, milestones, completion estimates, and resource allocation

Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for team members required for specific projects or initiatives

Coordinate the roll-out schedules, rallying internal resources, and setting expectations with Velocity customers

Responsible for maintaining accuracy and providing timely updates to meet reporting needs, included but not limited to project budgets, operational reporting, project variances and billing schedules.

Hold regular team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects

Assign and oversee the daily tasks of project resources while ensuring all stakeholders are actively working toward established milestones

Ability to perform customer training

Travel to job sites may be required periodically (POC, etc.,)

Education, Skills & Qualifications:

5-10 years’ experience delivering infrastructure / deployment solutions in the role of project manager

Proficiency in Smartsheet, Microsoft Excel/Project and O365 suite

Experience running POC and pilot effort for customers

Problem-Solving: Proactively identifying risks and mitigating site issues

Communication: Presenting to executive stakeholders and coordinating cross-functional teams

Ability to respond to customers in an expeditious manner

Strong client-facing and teamwork skills

An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules, and step-by-step action plans

Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with other departments to present a proper image of the organization to public, visitors and all employees

Experience on getting tasks done through others (influence)

Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-paced working environment

Professional personal presentation

Preferred Qualifications:

5–10 years of experience in structured cabling, low-voltage construction, or telecommunications project management.

Experience managing IT infrastructure / deployment projects in a customer facing environment

Analytically adept and technically savvy

Bachelor's Degree in IT, engineering or business

PMI certification
