Project Coordinator - Domestic Violence Law Project
Safe Horizon is an organization focused on supporting victims of crime and abuse. The Project Coordinator will provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and case management to high-risk victims, while operating the Domestic Violence Law Project Hotline and collaborating with attorneys to ensure clients receive comprehensive services.ResponsibilitiesProviding client-centered crisis intervention, emotional support and case management to high-risk victims of crime and abuse, with a focus on the Safe Horizon Family Court Programs in all five boroughs, on both an in-person and remote basisOperating the DVLP Hotline by returning messages, interviewing & screening callers, answering questions, providing legal and other information, and making appropriate referralsProviding information regarding the Family Court process, court procedures and the types of relief available, including Orders of Protection, child custody, visitation, and supportMaking referrals as needed to DVLP Staff Attorneys and Supervising Attorneys for consults and representationWorking closely with DVLP attorneys to ensure their clients receive client-centered, trauma-informed and holistic services as they navigate through the civil and criminal justice systemInputting client information, statistics and case notes into Safe Horizonβs Case Management System and maintaining thorough and accurate case records and statisticsAdvocating with Family Court personnel (Judges, Court Clerks, Court Officers, and other civil legal, defense and housing attorneys, etc.) and the criminal justice system on behalf of clientsSafety planning and risk assessmentConnecting clients to emergency practical assistance including shelters, compensation, transportation, food vouchers, financial assistance, emergency cell phones, lock replacementAttending internal and external meetings, trainings and workshopsAssisting the Supervising Coordinator with Spanish language translation for DVLP attorneysVarious other administrative duties to be determined by supervisorSkillsSensitivity towards and understanding of victimization, especially the experience of survivors of domestic violence, including criminalized survivorsStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to work under pressure in a calm and reassuring mannerAbility to work as part of a team while also independently generating tasksExperience working with survivors of domestic violence and other victims of crimeExperience with the criminal justice/civil legal systemsA Bachelor's degree or equivalent experienceBilingual in Spanish or another language strongly preferredBenefitsVacation TimePaid Sick TimeHolidaysMedicalDentalVision403(b) Retirement PlanCompany Life InsuranceMedical/Dependent Care Flexible Spending AccountsTuition Assistance ProgramCommuter Benefits ProgramGym ReimbursementParental LeaveEmployee Learning CenterCompany OverviewSafe Horizon is victim assistance organization provide support, prevent violence, and promote justice for victims of crime and abuse.
