Project Coordinator

Remote Full-time
Researches, plans, develops, and assists with grant proposals. Leads, coordinates, and executes special projects. Evaluates and determines scope of work for projects; reviews data and analyzes reports. Strategically plans projects, analyses and creates health cost reporting. Assists with managing assigned health department activities.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides input in the development of the budget and makes recommendations for purchases, capital items, or additional employees during the annual budget process. Monitors expenditures during the year related to assigned projects and grants.
• Independently makes decisions, prioritizes, and takes appropriate action.
• Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies & trends and the potential application to the organization as they relate to the assigned project.
• Develops detailed project plans, schedule, scope of work, objectives, priorities, and tracks all phases
• Ability to build project budgets, manages day-to-day operational aspects, monitors project purchases and expenditures.
• Holds regular status meetings with the team, sets realistic deadlines, aligns appropriate personnel to fulfill project needs, and collaborates with working groups.
• Provides mentoring, coaching, training, and direction to team development.
• Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
• Ability to create a quality control system to maintain standards.
• Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.
• Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement, makes constructive suggestions for change, and receives feedback from stakeholders.
• Performs related duties as required.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Ability to sit, stand and move inside the department and from building to building. Ability to attend department functions and meetings at other sites. Must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks. May be exposed to potentially hazardous chemicals while working in health department.

REQUIRED CONTACTS:
Ability to effectively communicate with citizens, stakeholders, and all levels of employees to provide information regarding health department functions and responsibilities. Employee will also work with the public while participating in community events.Knowledge, abilities, and skills
Ability to read and review such items as professional journals, publications and legislative data. Ability to review and help with the implementation of Texas Health and Safety Code provisions. Must have a clear understanding of project management processes and methodology. Possess sound reasoning and critical thinking skills. Ability to write reports, memos, and other documents as required. Knowledgeable in the operation of standard office equipment and computers.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification
Three years of general project management experience. Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public health or similar is preferred. Valid Texas driver's license required.
