The North Carolina Department of Commerce is the state's lead agency for economic, community and workforce development. They are seeking a Program Coordinator I to determine applicants' eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits and ensure that all pertinent information is documented in the case file while applying relevant laws for formal eligibility determinations.ResponsibilitiesDetermine an applicant’s eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits based on the reason the individual separated from their last employerReview and evaluate claim information and, if needed, investigate conflicting information provided by applicants and employersEnsure that all pertinent information used to evaluate the claim is documented in the case file and apply applicable law to issue formal eligibility determinations at the end to the reviewGather and review claim information and use North Carolina’s Employment Security Law to make eligibility determinations regarding an individual’s separation from employmentMake first-level decisions regarding an individual’s continued eligibility for benefits based on weekly filing requirementsSkillsBachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceDemonstrated experience in eligibility determination, evaluating claims, and case managementStrong communication and customer service skills in order to obtain relevant and accurate information from all interested parties in a timely mannerThe ability to analyze facts, evaluate conflicting information, and correctly apply relevant law to those facts in a production-oriented environmentBenefits12 Annual Paid Holidays and monthly accrual of vacation and sick leaveNorth Carolina State Health Plan administered by AetnaSupplemental Benefits including Flexible Spending Accounts, Accident Insurance, Cancer & Specified Disease, Critical Illness, Dental, and VisionNC State Retirement (TSERS), 401(k), and 457 savings plansWeSave Employee DiscountsEligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness ProgramCompany OverviewThe N.C.
