The New York State Thruway Authority is seeking a Professional Engineer 1 in Civil/Transportation. The role involves providing engineering design services for bridge and highway projects, managing design consultants, and ensuring compliance with New York State design standards.ResponsibilitiesProviding professional engineering design services for various bridge and highway repair, rehabilitation, and reconstruction projectsPreparing design reports/studies, plans, specifications, engineer’s estimates, (PS&E), design calculations and other technical elements of a bridge or highway projectManaging engineering design consultants, and review/approve design work performed by technicians under supervisionScopes of services, tracking progress of projects and evaluation of the consultantAdditional duties as assignedSkillsCurrent New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service to a Grade 23 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the NYS Civil Service LawAll transfer candidates are required to have a NYS Professional Engineer's license with current registrationA New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below; OR a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed belowQualifying degrees: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degreesQualifying experience: One year of full-time engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systemsAll potential candidates for this position must be legally eligible to work in the United States at the time of appointment and throughout your employment with the New York State Thruway AuthorityBenefitsPaid time offSick leave incentiveMembership to the NYS Retirement System90% tuition assistanceFREE onsite employee parkingCompany OverviewNew York State Thruway Authority provides government adminstration services.
