Production Manager (Open to Remote) (New York, NY, US, NY 10019)

Penguin Random House is seeking a Production Manager to oversee the production and manufacturing of hardcover and softcover books, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence. The role requires extensive experience with one-color and four-color printing and understanding of offset and digital printing. The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational skills, has excellent attention to detail, and can effectively multi-task and creatively solve problems to meet strict deadlines. Specific responsibilities include: Consult with publishing groups to develop specifications and schedules. Manage purchase orders and costs. Oversee prepress and manufacturing processes including color correction and file preflighting. Maintain book specifications in SAP and FileMaker Pro. Create manufacturing estimates. Examine book and component files and samples to uphold quality standards. Coordinate closely with compositors, printers, binderies, and conversion vendors to troubleshoot file issues, negotiate timelines, and maintain schedules. Collaborate with Interior Design, Art, and Managing Editorial departments to complete titles.
