Product Designer

Remote Full-time
We’re looking for a Product Designer who moves fast, obsesses over clarity, and designs for impact - not aesthetics alone. This isn’t a passive design role. You’ll be embedded directly in the product cycles, partnering with Product Managers and Engineers to shape, build, and iterate user experiences that solve real-world healthcare challenges. You’ll uncover user pain, simplify complex workflows, and deliver high-quality solutions that perform under pressure. If you thrive where speed, empathy, and execution collide — this is your place. Who you are: User Obsessed: You translate complexity into clarity without compromising speed. Outcome-focused: You measure success by what ships, not just what looks good. Collaborative and technical: You speak the language of engineers and understand systems design. Decisive under pressure: You can cut scope intelligently and deliver exceptional results within tight appetites. Driven to learn: You crave feedback and iteration as part of your craft. Champion of craft and clarity: You uphold high standards and push others to do the same This is a fractional hourly role and we do not expect this to be full-time hours. What You'll Do: Lead Discovery Design: Partner with PMs during shaping to visualize problem spaces, explore user flows, and validate concepts with users. Shape Up Participation: Co-create shaping briefs with Product — identifying UX boundaries, technical constraints, and defining the “just right” solution appetite. Design for Velocity: Deliver high-fidelity, production-ready designs that developers can implement without ambiguity. Own the User Experience: Craft intuitive, accessible, and performant experiences for providers, clinicians, and admins using Zivian’s platform. Collaborate Deeply with Engineering: Work hand-in-hand with developers during builds to clarify interactions, edge cases, and technical feasibility. Validate in Reality: Conduct lightweight usability testing and user feedback sessions to validate flow, comprehension, and delight. Contribute to Zivian’s Design System: Help evolve and maintain consistent visual and interaction patterns across all product areas. Uphold the Shape Up Ethos: Protect scope and deliver the shaped intent within each cycle — no drift, no waste, just impact. Post-Launch Learning: Participate in post-cycle reviews to assess UX effectiveness and define iteration opportunities. What you’ll bring: 3–6 years of experience designing for SaaS or complex web products — healthcare, marketplaces, or regulated industries a plus. A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design : from user research and wireframes to polished UI and interaction details. Deep understanding of UX design principles, systems thinking, and accessibility standards. Proficiency in Figma (and/or similar tools) with strong component and prototyping skills. Comfort working closely with engineers and PMs on technical constraints and architecture considerations. Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel, Posthog) for data-informed design. Excellent written and verbal communication — you can articulate design intent clearly and defend it persuasively. Bonus Points, But Not Required Experience with healthcare UX, provider workflows, or data-heavy enterprise tools. Familiarity with component-based design systems or front-end frameworks (React, Tailwind). Experience contributing to or maintaining a shared design library. Exposure to the Shape Up methodology or lean/agile product development cycles. Where You'll Be: We offer flexibility in your work location! For this role, you just need to be based within the US and comfortable working US Eastern and US Central hours, allowing you to work where you feel most productive. What Zivian Has for You: A dynamic, diverse, and collaborative work environment. Fast-paced startup culture full of growth minded colleagues. A distributed team with opportunities for in-person collaboration. Competitive compensation and benefits package. A supportive, non-competitive work environment where the team truly cares about one another. Opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth. Flexibility in work location.
