Overview
Azure Core is at the forefront of innovation for Microsoft’s Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) mission. We are responsible for designing and building the foundational primitives, platforms, hardware and services that power the current and next generation of applications including Generative AI. Our work expands the Azure Cloud (AI Regions, Region Expansions, New Clouds, Change Management Safety), scales out new hardware product introduction, enables the safe, scalable, and efficient evolution of Azure and improves the foundations of platform quality for every developer and enterprise.

We are seeking a Principal Product Manager with a bias for action to define and drive the product direction for one of Microsoft’s most critical capacity decision support systems, spanning AI and commercial cloud infrastructure. You will work with product, engineering, operations, and business leaders across Microsoft to shape a multi-horizon strategy for a decision platform that helps the company plan, allocate, and optimize capacity at hyperscale. This role is central to Microsoft’s cloud and AI success, with the opportunity to create broad company-wide impact.

Responsibilities
Secure executive support for the company-wide initiatives needed to succeed, maintaining the highest levels of trust and integrity with all stakeholders.
You will provide strategic help to cross-divisional teams as they work with Software and Hardware Engineering to design technical solutions. You will also work with teams as they identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.
You’ll drive cross-divisional teams to define success criteria and provide strategic knowledge to help them understand return on investment. You’ll also oversee team collaboration and ensure alignment on product management and release.
You will work with cross-divisional teams as they deliver on feature roadmap, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation, and hold teams accountable for leading governance programs.
You will work with teams driving continuous improvements by using industry expertise to teach them to validate use cases and helping them partner with other departments to collect performance metrics. You’ll also work with teams that own customer support and ensure cross-divisional participation in direct customer engagements.
Innovate product management practices across Azure services and champion the adoption of generative AI tools to streamline planning, feedback-loop synthesis, and engineering system efficiency, setting a new standard for scalable, data-informed decision-making across the platform.
Stay abreast of industry trends in cloud infrastructure and advancements in product management, ensuring our approach and practices remain cutting-edge.

Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
6+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800.00 - $274,800.00 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000.00 - $304,200.00 per year.
