This includes proof of concept testing and configuration development on network infrastructure.ResponsibilitiesArchitecture DevelopmentParticipates in designing next generation infrastructure and solutions for layers 1-3 network servicesAnalyzes, selects, and performs proof of concept testing on optical, switching, and transport technology options from various vendorsHas deep understanding of vendor community network solutions and capabilities, and influences changes in their roadmaps to meet Equinix's needsDevelops configuration guides to be used by NSE and Software Engineering personnelArchitects and validates solutions based on Product Management and NSE requirements. Influences changes.Testing & ValidationDevelops test plans and strategies to ensure that architectural concepts and features work as anticipated and meet the requirements provided by Product Management and/or NSE, including alternative approaches such as vendor conducted testingProvides input to test plans to be conducted by Network Engineering, System Integration and Testing and Software Engineering to ensure end to end scenarios are evaluatedParticipates in deployment readiness evaluation with Global Network Engineering and NSE teamsVendor ManagementUnderstands platform vendor roadmaps and technology and translates those into solutions/services Qualifications15+ years experience in Network Engineering and ArchitectureBachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering or Related Field preferredHas practical knowledge of network automation techniques, and understands how to use and write tests for network automation.Python knowledge and SQL knowledge are both plusesSubstantive knowledge of network (function) disaggregation, including merchant silicon and ODM solutionsExpert level knowledge with service provider networking technologies and protocols, including BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, Segment Routing, RSVP, QoS, EVPN, VXLAN, traffic engineering (backbone & edge)The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:United States - Redwood City Office GHQ : 213,000 - 319,000 USD / AnnualUnited States - CA Bay Area : 213,000 - 319,000 USD / AnnualUnited States - Other posted locations not specifically listed : 177,000 - 265,000 USD / AnnualUnited States - CA Non-Bay Area, AK, CT, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, VA, WA : 195,000 - 293,000 USD / AnnualCanada - Remote Location - CA : 139,000 - 209,000 CAD / AnnualOur pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs.
