Software & Data Engineering 2025-JV-352 Description Principal Data Scientist (#RC-0502) Brand: Shutterfly Location: Remote, Reporting to San Jose, CA, United States Full-Time Job Description: As a member of the Personalization Data Sciences Team, provide thought leadership within a broad array of machine learning applications to help make informed pricing and promotional decisions that increase revenue and profitability. Collaborate with data scientists and engineers who work with virtually every form of customer purchase and engagement data, applying state-of-the-art techniques for customer personalization and price optimization. Extract and deploy complex modeling features through the company’s MLops (Machine Learning Operations) feature store. Build machine learning models using Python to recommend optimal product, price, offer, content and information, as well as determine the impact of models on key business measures. Provide actionable insights to drive key decisions across the marketing organization using a range of analytical and statistical techniques, from descriptive analysis to predictive/explanatory models. Translate complex concepts for non-analytical peers within the Marketing, Ecommerce, Product and Engineering teams. Develop experimental designs to support testing. Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Applied Statistics, Life Sciences, or a related quantitative field. 5 years of experience in data science, economics, computer science, or statistics. Employer will accept a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Applied Statistics, Life Sciences, or a related quantitative field and 2 years of experience in data science, economics, computer science, or statistics in lieu of a Master’s degree or equivalent and 5 years of experience. Work experience to include: (1) 5 years of experience (or 2 years of experience with a Doctor of Philosophy degree) developing and deploying machine learning and deep learning models, including models in a business to consumer setting. (2) 5 years of experience (or 2 years of experience with a Doctor of Philosophy degree) with Advanced SQL. (3) 3 years of experience (or 2 years of experience with a Doctor of Philosophy degree) with ML frameworks, including Sklearn, Tensorflow, and PyTorch. (4) 2 years of experience with at least one of the following MLops tools and platforms: MLflow, Sagemaker, or DataBricks. (5) 2 years of experience utilizing at least one of the following cloud computer solutions: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Storage (GCS), or Azure. (6) 1 year of experience with at least one of the following distributed data platforms: MapReduce, Hadoop, or SPARK. (7) 1 year of experience with version control systems, including Github. (8) 1 year of hands-on experience with Unix and shell scripting. Any and all experience may be gained concurrently. 40 hours/week. Salary: $172,687 to $175,687 per year .
