Job Description

The Pricing Actuary will lead new state product launches and rate revisions for existing Homeowners insurance programs. This role is responsible for developing best-in-class Homeowners insurance product that supports profitable growth while ensuring regulatory compliance. The Pricing Actuary will report to the Director of Actuarial Services and play a key role in shaping product performance and market expansion.

Primary Accountabilities
• Lead rating plan development for new state entries in support of the company’s growth strategy, including preparation of rate filings and supporting materials to facilitate timely approval from Departments of Insurance (DOI).
• Oversee the rate review process for existing states by analyzing performance, identifying enhancement opportunities, and incorporating competitive intelligence.
• Develop and present rate change recommendations to Product Management and senior leadership.
• Partner with Product Management to implement rate revisions and ensure successful and timely regulatory approval.
• Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and advancements in Homeowners pricing methodologies; proactively identify strategic business opportunities.
• Perform ad hoc actuarial analyses to support business needs and decision-making.
• Mentor and develop junior actuarial analysts, providing guidance, training, and technical oversight.

Qualifications & Skills
• Deep understanding of Homeowners insurance products, including rating structures, underwriting practices, and state-specific regulatory requirements. California Homeowners experience is a plus.
• Strong expertise in catastrophe modeling, reinsurance structures, and their implications for pricing.
• Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, with a proactive and critical-thinking mindset.
• Ability to work independently, lead projects, and solve complex problems while exercising sound judgment on escalation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively partner across cross-functional teams.
• Advanced proficiency in VBA, SQL, Python, or R.
• Minimum of 7 years of actuarial experience, preferably in Homeowners ratemaking and product support; prior people management experience is a plus.
• Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS or FCAS).

The position is remote, but we offer the opportunity to collaborate and work in an office environment in Boston, MA, or St Petersburg, FL, if preferred.
