Power Systems Professional

Remote Full-time
This position provides support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Power Services Group under the National Air-Space Implementation Support Contract (NISC) with respect to power engineering. The candidate will provide senior-level engineering support across complex technical programs with a focus on power systems and infrastructure. The successful candidate will deliver subject matter expertise, guide projects through all lifecycle phases, and contribute to strategic planning and implementation efforts. The successful candidate will:
Provide engineering consultation to ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, and best practices across all phases of the system lifecycle, including requirements development, site assessments, design, design review, and implementation. Participate in the project planning, execution, and management, including coordination of logistics, schedules, and technical strategies. Develop solutions to complex power engineering problems, including analytical, simulation, and system-level approaches. Manage National Change Proposal, Configuration Control Board process, and departmental website. Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams and with diverse stakeholders.

The following set of skills/knowledge will lead to successful career in this position:
Strong background in power systems engineering with demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with one or more of the following: short circuit coordination, arc flash analysis, generators, UPS systems, grounding, and lightning protection.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, NEC).
The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of FAA/DoD systems, technical policies, standards and orders.

Primary Responsibilities:

Basic Qualifications:
Twenty plus years of power systems experience.
Strong background in power systems with demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
Power engineering experience is a must.
Other electrical engineering disciplines must have strong knowledge of power systems.
AA in electrical or electronics Technology. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of national/international/government standards and orders to include: grounding, lightning protection, short circuit coordination, arc flash studies, power quality and stability assessment, Electrical Line Distribution (ELD), engine generator and UPS applications.
