PostgreSQL DBA JD :
Responsible for installation, configuration, performance tuning, security, high availability, and operational support of PostgreSQL databases across production and nonproduction environments.
Key Responsibilities
ā¢ Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.
ā¢ Manage schemas, indexes, partitioning, and PL/pgSQL routines.
ā¢ Optimize database performance, queries, and resource utilization.
ā¢ Implement backup/restore strategies (pgBackRest, WAL archiving).
ā¢ Configure and support HA/DR (Streaming Replication, Logical Replication, Patroni).
ā¢ Monitor health, performance, and capacity using pg_stat views and monitoring tools.
ā¢ Ensure database security, access control, patching, and auditing.
ā¢ Troubleshoot database issues, deadlocks, replication lag, and performance bottlenecks.
ā¢ Automate routine admin tasks (Shell/Python/Ansible).
ā¢ Support cloud-managed Postgres (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform) as required.
Required Skills
ā¢ Strong PostgreSQL administration (4 10+ years). Strong Data Base Management System knowledge.
ā¢ Expertise in SQL, PL/pgSQL, indexing, and query tuning.
ā¢ Solid experience with replication, HA frameworks, and backups.
ā¢ Good Linux fundamentals and scripting skills.
ā¢ Hands-on experience with cloud-based Postgres
