Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant
Job Description:
As a Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring patients receive efficient, high-quality care. Your responsibilities will include preparing testing rooms, assisting with medical tests, and providing essential patient care. You will be involved in both clinical and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Ā Prepare the testing room with the proper tools and equipment for procedures.
Ā Walk patients through the process of needle insertion and blood sample collection.
Ā Label blood samples accurately for further analysis in medical laboratories.
Ā Clearly explain the blood-drawing process to patients and ensure their understanding.
Ā Reassure and calm patients who may be nervous or anxious about the procedure.
Ā Apply dressings to any wound caused by blood collection.
Ā Ensure proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors.
Ā Prepare patients for medical examinations and procedures.
Ā Take vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, etc.) and document patient medical histories.
Ā Assist healthcare providers with medical tests and examinations.
Ā Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers.
Ā Schedule patient appointments and manage appointment logistics.
Ā Obtain blood samples, ensuring proper handling and storage.
Ā Perform data entry and maintain accurate patient records.
Ā Measure and record vital signs and document any changes or concerns.
Administrative Support Responsibilities:
Ā File, copy, and fax necessary documentation and patient records.
Ā Maintain organized records and assist with the management of patient files.
Ā Assist with typing and documentation for physicians as a scribe.
Ā Use computer systems to enter patient information and manage medical records.
Skills & Qualifications:
Ā Proficiency in computer systems and medical software.
Ā Strong research skills for retrieving relevant information.
Ā Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare staff.
Ā Ability to stay organized and manage administrative tasks efficiently.
Ā Compassionate and calm demeanor when interacting with patients.
Ā Bilingual Spanish preferred.
